Ten Minutes of Play Can Change the Whole Day: Building Your Play Muscle and Bringing Play Into All areas of Your Parenting

Ten Minutes of Play Can Change the Whole Day: Building Your Play Muscle and Bringing Play Into All areas of Your Parenting

Saturday, November 15, 12:30 – 2:30 pm, Eastern US
IN PERSON Green Meadow Waldorf School, Chestnut Ridge, NY

Are you a person that says, “I’m no good at play” or “It doesn’t come natural to me”?

Does play feel stuck, stagnant, or out of reach?
Do you find yourself engaged in lots of power struggles?
Do you wish you could laugh more in your parenting journey?

Play and laughter are some of the most direct routes to connection between two people. Play grows creativity,  confidence, intelligence, empathy, problem solving, cooperation, vulnerability, and a sense of belonging. It is key to dissolving so much of the conflict, stress, disconnection, addiction, and other health issues we are experiencing personally and as a society as a whole.

Play is medicine.
Yet many parents and caregivers feel that it’s hard to find time or energy for playfulness when we have so much on our minds. And most of us have absorbed confusing messages about the importance of play.

In this interactive class, you’ll learn ways to expand your range when it comes to play. We’ll talk about play as a venue for essential connection, emotional release, brain development, reducing power struggles, and setting limits without anger. You’ll get ideas for how to handle day to day challenges with play. You really can set warm limits that build connection rather than more disconnection.

We’ll also cover:
Rough and tumble play… yes!! all the way through and beyond the teen years
The impact of the messages we got about play in our fast paced world
The science behind why play improves cooperation and collaboration
How play can help you reach your isolated child, friend, or family member
What to do when your child wants to play games you hate

We will play, so please wear comfy clothes and bring a soft pillow or two, and an extra pair of loose socks.

Participants will receive my 11 page journal/ guidebook, Ten Minutes of Play Can Change the Whole Day, Getting Unstuck and Growing Your Play Muscle.
